The use of face masks to protect us from COVID-19 is an indispensable measure, but lately what many of us have been asking ourselves is, what is the difference between using a cloth face mask and a plastic face mask, do they really work?

MOUTH COVER

Wearing masks is acceptable and feasible, say the researchers. This method protects both health care workers and people in the community exposed to the infection.

While there are differences between common disposable surgical masks and filters such as N95, the credibility of effect modification in all settings is low and it remains an effective method of preventing infection.

The effectiveness of the use of face masks may depend on contextual factors.

Not wearing a facemask or face mask suggests a 17.4% chance of coronavirus infection. 17.4%while wearing a facemask reduces the risk to only 3.1%.

MASKS OR EYE SHIELDS

Another method of protection from COVID-19 is eye protection such as visors, face shields, face shields or goggles can provide additional benefits to protection from the risk of contagion.

The results of the risk of contagion mention that not wearing eye protection or a face shield implies a 16% of risk, while wearing it is only 5.5%. 5.5%.

Eye or face shields only give additional benefits

AND THEN... MASK OR FACE SHIELD, WHICH SHOULD I USE?

The answer is both. Use a face mask whenever you have to go out of the house, and when going to places where many people congregate, we recommend wearing a face shield along with a cloth mask to cover your nose and mouth.

Respirators should be N95 or disposable respirators or, if you want to be environmentally friendly, cloth respirators, as long as they follow the recommended specifications.

Remember, the use of face masks and face shields are indispensable when going out of the house. Their use is considered an additional public health measure, as they are not a substitute for other known prevention measures such as frequent hand washing and physical distancing.

At GDI we look for the care of our staff, that's why we provide and hand out masks and masks.

This is to take care of our employees inside and outside the company, to minimise the risk of contagion and spread. Adapting to the new normality, following hygiene and safety protocols.

Taking care of ourselves is the most important thing for all of us.
